Inspired by a penny found on the pavement, pocketed on instinct, still in a drawer twenty years later.
This one began as a block of wax, carved by hand until the edge went soft and slightly off-round - the shape of something already carried a long time. The words were scribed straight into the wax, freehand and unevenly, then cast in solid sterling silver so every wobble came through into the metal. Small granulation beads sit at each shoulder and at the base.
It hangs from an Albert swivel - a proper opening fitting borrowed from Victorian watch chains - on an 18" figaro style chain. The swivel means the pendant comes off, so it can travel to another chain whenever you want it to.
To keep your piece looking its best:
- Avoid contact with water, perfume, hairspray and swimming
- Remove before sleeping, exercising or showering
- Store in a soft pouch or box when not wearing
- Gently polish with a soft dry cloth to restore shine
- Gold plated pieces may naturally develop patina over time, this can be gently buffed back with a polishing cloth
- Please note that gold plating is a thin layer of gold applied over a base metal. With everyday wear and use, this layer will gradually wear over time. How quickly depends on how well the piece is cared for.
Following the above steps will help extend the life of your gold plated pieces.
